Digital Arts will release a total file security solution f-FILTER in October
— — For the secure file transfer without external leaks of important information — —
Information security solutions provider Digital Arts, Inc. (headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan; CEO: Toshio Dogu; hereinafter referred to as “Digital Arts”; Code 2326) is pleased to announce that in October 2023 it will begin offering f-FILTER, a total file security solution that enables the secure file transfer through a system that prevents external leaks of important information.
While the sharing of important information has become easier than ever, information leaks have also become a never ending issueWith the digitization of paper media, a variety of important information, including personal information, trade secrets, and technical information, are now handled electronically, making the handling of files easier and more convenient. In addition to email, cloud storage and business chat services are increasingly being used for file delivery.
While it has become easier to share important information, information leaks have also become a never-ending issue. These incidents can include someone sharing important files externally without realizing it, sending important files to their private email address and accessing it outside the company, and making mistakes in cloud storage settings that cause personal information to be made public.
Cyber risks are also on the rise as malicious parties hack cloud storage accounts and steal important information. As a measure against such security risks, it is important to create a system that can prevent important information from being leaked, such as one that uses Data Loss Prevention (DLP).
Both human eyes and a computerized system are necessary for identifying what information is “important”
Until now, Digital Arts has provided web, email and file security products such as i-FILTER, m-FILTER, and FinalCode. The cloud version of the web security product i-FILTER@Cloud provides features that meet the four requirements of a Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB): visibility, control, data security, and threat protection. The addition of a DLP feature to identify critical information in files to further round out the product was also considered.
However, the definition of important information differs between companies and organizations, and in some cases, a specific kind of information being omitted from the definition can cause issues in introducing a DLP system. Digital Arts determined that the addition of “human checks and identification” was the key to solving this issue. Thus it combined human checks with system results to reliably identify what information is important in files.
In addition, as the need for file transfers over the cloud in place of using PPAP (a method wherein a locked ZIP file is sent with the password being sent in a subsequent email) increased, we had been looking how to solve issues of the cloud version of our email security product m-FILTER@Cloud, which was unable to identify information inside attachments. In addition, we wanted to improve convenience by adding file transfer features to the product.
f-FILTER for the secure file transfer without external leaks of important information
To solve these issues, in October 2023, Digital Arts will release f-FILTER, a total file security solution that offers secure file transfer and prevents information leaks. The product name f-FILTER comes from the idea of reliably filtering files to be sent externally. In addition to using it on its own, f-FILTER can be used in combination with i-FILTER@Cloud as a unique DLP solution and m-FILTER@Cloud as a unique anti-PPAP solution. Pricing will be announced in August 2023. f-FILTER's information leakage prevention and file transfer features
f-FILTER is equipped with five information leak prevention features; DLP, file identification, supervisor approval, antivirus, and file access rights management, as well as a file transfer feature. Linkage with other Digital Arts products
f-FILTER can be seamlessly integrated with Digital Arts other products, such as i-FILTER@Cloud, m-FILTER@Cloud, and StartIn, an IDaaS (IDentity as a Service) product that enables authentication and ID management for cloud services. We are also considering offering a set low price for customers currently using i-FILTER@Cloud and m-FILTER@Cloud. Additional file protection for client devices for a “total file security solution”
In the future, f-FILTER will be integrated with FinalCode, a file security product capable of file control and file encryption through IRM (Information Rights Management), and its file security functions will be further enhanced, aiming to develop f-FILTER as a product that can eliminate all security risks surrounding files. As a unique total file security solution, f-FILTER will contribute to security measures and improved convenience in the transfer of files to and from customers.
